Nelson wollte ursprünglich “England confides that every man will do his duty” („England vertraut darauf, dass…“) signalisieren lassen, änderte das Signal aber auf Vorschlag des Signaloffiziers ab, da „expects“ im Codebuch enthalten war, während „confides“ hätte buchstabiert werden müssen.
